Welcome!

This blog has been five years in the making. I started this blog in its original format for an online class I took in Spring 2015. After that, I let this blog sit. Then sit. Then sit. Then sit some more until I realized I need to do something with this platform or pull the plug completely.

So a little about me.

I am a Christian, a sinner saved by grace undeserved. I have been fortunate to have been raised in a Christian family and raised in the Church with all her glories and foibles. I first and foremost am a Christian, but if you wanted me to be specific, on a doctrinal/theological level, I would classify myself as a Baptist. Yes, I know the Baptist jokes. I say some of them myself because some of them are true! If you can't laugh at yourself, do you really take yourself seriously?

I am Californian, born and raised. I have lived in Chino, California, since I was born. I graduated California State University San Bernardino (aka: Cal State San Bernardino) with a Bachelor of Arts in History. I currently work at a local retail store, though I hope to gain a vocation within my field of study. And yet, I know I am lucky to have a job at all when others have not had any kind of job at all for years.

I'm still trying to get a feel for what this blog will be. Some posts may be studies of certain chapters of the Bible, some may be poems or songs, and some may be commentary on certain issues.

About the last category - commentary.

I feel the need to be upfront with some of you. I am conservative(ish) in my politics. Not even conservative with a capital "C", but a lower-case "c" and an "ish" thrown in for good measure. I do that to emphasize that I while I am not liberal/left-of-center, I know especially in a state like my home-state of California, even my lower-case "c" conservatism can be viewed as "far-right" when it is not.

This is my bias. That way, when you read something I write that sounds like it leans conservative... It's because it leans conservative. I won't give you an objective perspective that, for some odd reason, always portrays all people of one side as wrong while never (EVER!) daring to say people on the other side of the aisle are wrong or misguided. That's not objective, that's subjective pretending to be objective and that is dishonest and manipulative on so many levels.

I promise it won't be political commentaries on top of political commentaries in this blog. If anything, I hope you see as few political commentaries on here as possible because I don't want to contribute to the idea of "I must comment on everything!!!", which I have been guilty of in the past. Commenting, be you a conservative or liberal, has become its own type of virtue signaling. My virtue is found in what Christ did for me on the cross, not a hot take I can produce.

So, welcome! I hope you will join me on this journey!

Grace and peace.
